That happened to me too. I thought the NFC was corrupt either on my phone or the nRF52 DK, but the thing is, I didn't program the nRF5 SoC prior to testing the NFC functionality. I thought the NFC was enabled by default on nRF52 for some reason and that it should send some data to my phone when I put the phone on the NFC tag. Later on, I figured out that I have to actually program the SoC to utilize NFC.

That's strange. Have you programmed, or made any attempts to program the chip beforehand? Do you have any casing on your phone which might affect the NFC capabilities?

Either way, this isn't vital for your future as a microcontroller developer. What I suggest you do, is that you get started by watching the video tutorials that were linked earlier, download Segger Embedded Studio which is free for anyone with a Nordic Development Kit. Download the S132 SoftDevice and SDK v. 15.3 here. And you could start off with something like the custom BLE service example, which is a pretty extensive tutorial written by one of my co-workers.

Yeah I mounted the NFC attenna (orange sheet) and the leds are on. My open does support NFC but nothing pops up.

Attached screenshot below of nfc enabled.

Yes, I've been following the get started guide for the nrf52 Dk site on nordic. However, when I get to step 7 and put my phone near the microcontroller no site pops up.

I do have experience with programming in high school. I've been taking computer science classes in all my years of high school, however I don't have experience with micro controllers.
