Are you using one of our development kits? Or a module? What version of SoftDevice are you using? What SDK version? How are you detecting the device? Can you try to sniff what is happening on the air? Please edit your question and include some more information.

Hey Marc, thanks for a quick response.

By scan, I mean bluetooth scan for devices. My Mac is Bluetooth 4.0 and the nRF51822 is probably running a 4.1 stack (I don't know how to find out for sure). I guess your bullet point two is possibly the answer. But then the question would be how do I load an older SoftDevice?

Can you define "detect the module when scanned"?

Reading between the lines, it almost sounds like you're asking:

"Can my Bluetooth 4.0 Mac not find the Nordic module because it's got a Bluetooth 4.1 stack?". This would be an incorrect assumption.
But, yes, you can load an older SoftDevice that's only 4.0 compliant on to the nRF51 -- but as I allude to, that's not the problem here.

Give us some more details?
