 I use the nrfx_rtc_tick_enable() function to enable tick interrupts for the RTC. 
 I have a statemachine that in some states disable the interrupt and sometime enables it.

&lt;p&gt;You can read the &lt;a href="https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ps_nrf52840/rtc.html?cp=3_0_0_5_21_9_7#register.INTENSET"&gt;interrupt register&lt;/a&gt; and see if the bit has been set.&lt;/p&gt;
