&lt;p&gt;Notice that you need &lt;a href="https://github.com/sigurdnev/fw-nrfconnect-nrf/blob/master/samples/nrf9160/i2c_scanner/nrf9160_pca10090ns.overlay" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"&gt;an .overlay file&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I would recommend not to commit &lt;em&gt;build files&lt;/em&gt; to github to avoid unnecessary mess.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
