We are investigating whether the nRF52840 can be used to carry out USB device negotiation with a host in terms of setting the maximum charging current.
Our potential device doesn't actually need USB data support, so until now we've just

RE: Can the nRF52840 do USB power class negotiation?

Hi Øyvind,

The options then would be to purchase an off-the shelf charger detection part, or design/implement something similar to what these off-the shelf parts do. Is the detection of all charger types required? Or is DCP detection sufficient? If only DCP detection is required, it could probably be done using an external GPIO analog-"switcher" with some additional GPIO usage on the 840, and 2 resistors.

I hope this answers your question.

Kind regards,
Øyvind

In other words can we implement BCS1.1 in software and, if so, what hardware changes might be required on our board on the D+/D- connections?
