nRF51824 is the only chip that is AEC-Q100 Grade 2 qualified. If you do not require this qualification or extended temperature range (over +85C), you can, of course, use nRF52 series ICs for your application.

ok ..thanks for sharing this information. But for SPI datasheet says that it supports frequency of 8Mbps whereas depends upon HFCLK selection. Now how do we select HFCLK and also i am not able to conclude whether nRF52 matches the specification of my communication speed 20 MHZ requirement.

nRF52840 has support for 32 MHz SPI (High-speed SPI) on SPIM3 instance.

There are currently no automotive grade qualified ICs in the nRF52 series, only nRF51824 have such qualification.

Sorry, I looked the nRF52 tag - missed that you asked about nRF51.

You are aware that nRF51 is not recommended for new BLE designs - aren't you ?

Hi Jorgen,

Thanks for sharing information. Does nRF52 SPI support 20Mhz communication speed. Also nRF52 comes under Automotive grade, if not then is there any future plan of nordic ??

Hi,

For nRF51 series, the Maximum supported UART baud rate is 1 Megabaud. For SPI, the maximum frequency is 4 MHz.

Please see page 56-58 of nRF51822 Product Specification v3.3 for more details.

I would recommend that you go with nRF52 series if you are starting development on a new project. nRF52 series ICs have many features over nRF51 series that most projects will benefit from.

Uart specs are matched but i don't see SPI specs.

So have you looked in the nRF52832 Product Specification to see if it can meet those requirements ?
