The "blank" configuration starts at address 0x0 in flash and will thus overlap with the MBR section that is required for DFU, see Memory layout

What is the reasoning behind this please? i.e. what are the differences between the two files?

The fix to get me past this error is that I needed to use the "mbr" option of the blinky example code rather than the "blank" option.

...\examples\peripheral\blinky\pca10056\mbr

instead of

...\examples\peripheral\blinky\pca10056\blank

I uninstalled Python 3.7.4 and installed 2.7.16

I'm still getting the exact same result and error

Hi,

nrfutil does not support python 3 yet. This is likely why it's not working. Please use 2.7.x for now. With regards to the --sd-req argument, it must be included it even if no Softdevice is present on the target, but any FWID will be accepted.
