After I updated to the latest 'nrfjprog'. (download link), I completed the modem fw updated successfully.

Please update to nrf connect v3.0.0.

only this version can update FirmwareV1.0.0.zip.

firmware v1.0.0 is updated as zip file not hex file on nrf connect v3.0.0

After I updated to the latest 'nrfjprog'. (download link), I completed the modem fw updated successfully.

Now my other question is whether I need to update the Segger Embedded Studio v416 which is located at C:\Users\advanchip\Documents\arm_segger_embedded_studio_v416_win_x64_nordic\. If so, please tell me how to do it and how to verify if I have the latest 'nrfjprog'.

I repeated the step by closed and re-open the nRF connect V3.0.0 and re-cycled the DK power. I got "Unsupported device. The detected device could not be recognized as neither JLink device nor Nordic USB device." and the "Update modem" was grey out.

I tried to use 2 Windows 10 PCs with 2 DKs, they both came up the same results.

I think you may have expanded the zip folder. you just need the unexpanded zip folder. It sorts it out after that. You click the update modem button in the bottom right corner. It has nothing to do with updating your application.
