I had the same problem (yes, I had the P0.30 jumper). In my case I got a prompt to update the firmware when running MCP 3.10.0.14 and accepted the prompt. After that, I could never Start Discovery without the errors.

I downloaded the J-Link Configurator App and attempted to update the firmware. It said it could not update because the firmware in the PCA10028 was newer than what the JLink configurator had.

I then right clicked the PCA10028 board in the J-Link configurator and said 'replace' the firmware.

After that, all was well again with the world and MCP worked properly. I now decline to update the firmware when MCP starts.

I have the same issue. I do the following: -Connect P0.30 to ground -Connect the nrf51 DDK to the PC through USB -Open MCP 3.8.0.7. File -> Flash programming -> any of the two options, the result is the same -Leds 1, 2 and 3 on the nrf51 DK get lit. MCP says "Loading... no response from master emulator" -The log says the following: JLinkARM.dll 4.92 681901842 - COM3 HCI command: BTLE_CMD_READ_BD_ADDR Serial port write: 01-09-10-00 Waiting for event packet. Timeout is 500ms

- Start of script: (2015-04-23 10:52:33) - - HCI command: BTLE_CMD_READ_BD_ADDR Serial port write: 01-09-10-00 Finished waiting for event packet. PacketReceived:False InitAddressAndFirmware, exception: No command complete event received. System.TimeoutException: No command complete event received. en ... Could not read public device address: No response from master emulator No response from master emulator.

According to the documentation, connecting P0.30 to ground is necessary for PCA10001 and PCA10028. What about the dongle, PCA10000. It seems like the MCP should work properly with the dongle without changing the PCBA.

I'm following the quick start instructions in the EK documentation. It makes no mention of requiring hardware changes. Also, it is clear that I can write code to the dongle with NRFgo. What else could be at issue?

I solved my problem by connect P0.30 to ground like Petter said. And nrf51-DK start working with MCP.

Could it be because you haven't connected P0.30 to ground according to the supported hardware section in help?

Hi, Petter,

I'm using MCP 3.7.1 as administrator and J-Link 4.92. The dongle is seen by nRFgo Studio and it is possible to program it there and in Keil. With the Dongle it works perfectly. The DK with the MCP firmware is not seen by the MCP, although... Could it be some incompatibility with the MCP firmware?

Are you running version 3.7.1 of MCP?

Are you running it as an administrator?

What SEGGER J-Link version are you using? I'm using 4.92.

Are you able to see the dongle in nRFgo Studio?

Have you tried to erase it in nRFgo Studio and reprogram it in MCP?
