The problem was an unstable USB port in the PC. i tried other PC and it works great.

capture is very unstable, sometimes packets are shown and sometimes nothing is shown.

need to mention the following versions:

Wireshark - v2.4.15

sniffer software in extcap folder: Profile_nRF_Sniffer_v2_001

Hex file file programed using nrfjprog.exe: sniffer_pca10040_1c2a221.hex

Sniffer Hadware: nRF52 DK

Hi,

I closed the wireshark and reopened it and for some reason i dont see any BLE packets.

LED1 in the sniffer board (nRF52832 DK) works fine (blinks as it should be).

The View>Interface Toolbars>nRF Sniffer option is on (enabled)

nRF Sniffer COM10 is shown at the bottom of wireshark interfaces - but with a straight line (no activity).

When i hit the "start capturing packets" button in the wireshark i see no packets at all.

Can you help me understand what could be the cause of that?

It.worked. The nrfjprog program needed to have the hex file at the same folder as the nrfjprog.exe file

Not sure why they tell you to use JLink.exe in the user guide, we always just use nrfjprog. Maybe it's because nrfjprog is bundled with a newer version of the jlink driver. I think the sniffer needs a specific version of jlink to work. I think this is covered in the "Verify that Jlink emulator firmware is correct version" section of the user guide.

OK. I got to the stage Install firmware with SEGGER J-Link (nRF Sniffer User Guide v2.1) and when i tried to call the hex file (which is in my case exists in: C:\Program Files\Wireshark\extcap\hex\sniffer_pca10040_1c2a221.hex)

Using this command at the cmd prompt (as administrator):

J-Link> loadfile C:\Program Files\Wireshark\extcap\hex\sniffer_pca10040_1c2a221.hex

I get the following error:

Downloading file [C:\Program]...

File is of unknown / supported format.

Any ideas about that?
