This is possibly some variation of what others have seen, e.g., in ticket 232629.
I am using several custom boards and have updated everything to the latest versions:
1. The v1.0.0 firmware 2. The v10.2.1 Command-Line-Tools that install v6.44e

RE: nRF9160 MQTT over TLS with v1.0.0 FW and ncs

Thanks Marjeris!

The link I was referring to was just to point you to which define you should increase, not which value. Try increasing for 1024 at a time.

The old version of ncs used less of the stack so this is the only thing I can think of can be different when changing ncs version.

Best regards,

Unfortunatel, it must be something else as I already use these settings:

# Main thread
CONFIG_MAIN_THREAD_PRIORITY=7
CONFIG_MAIN_STACK_SIZE=4096
CONFIG_HEAP_MEM_POOL_SIZE=1024

Any other idea?

It could be that certificates are not uploaded correctly because of the stack size being too small. Can you try increasing the stack size? https://github.com/NordicPlayground/fw-nrfconnect-nrf/blob/master/samples/nrf9160/mqtt_simple/prj.conf#L39
