&lt;p&gt;Yes, All BLE 4.0 devices should be able to connect to newer BLE versions. Just keep in mind that the features of BLE version 4.2 and 5.0 won&amp;#39;t be available for the 4.0 devices I.E. Long range mode and 2Mbps mode in 5.0 and data-length extension from 4.2 won&amp;#39;t be available for your 4.0 device.&lt;/p&gt;
