Can you please point me to some documentation which shows how to run SD140 with freertos on an 840 chip?
Look forward to hearing from you
Kind regards

Yes, it's the same softdevice that it used.
And if same softdevice hex file, then which minimum version of softdevice is required?
If you are using nRF5 SDK v.15.3.0, you should use the softdevice version that is listed under "Supported Softdevices" in the release notes.
https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v15.3.0/index.html?cp=5_1_0

For nRF5 SDK v.15.3.0, this is:

Supported SoftDevices:
- S112 v6.1.x
- S132 v6.1.x
- S140 v6.1.x
- S212 v6.1.x
- S312 v6.1.x
- S332 v6.1.x
- S340 v6.1.x

When using the nRF52840, you would need the S140 v.6.1.x.
Softdevice S140 v.6.1.1 is the version that is release with nRF5 SDK v.15.3.0 so I would suggest using that version.

Getting started

For FreeRTOS we have an example in our SDK you can take a look at.

https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.sdk5.v15.3.0/ble_sdk_app_hrs_freertos.html?cp=5_1_4_2_2_14

FreeRTOS support

We have an example both for the nRF52840 DK (PCA10056) with SD140, and for the nRF52832 (PCA10040) with SD132.
