Ah ok, figured out why my base current was so high. The DK needs to be reset after flashing it with CONFIG_SERIAL=n. Not entirely sure why this is but that brings the current down massively! From between 11-14mA all the way down to 37uA. 🙂

Hi Carl,

NB-IoT is not required for PSM, connection to an eNodeB (cell tower) is required. So long as your LTE-M device is attached, you will experience PSM. Times T3412 and T3324 are exchanged between UE and eNodeB as the network must accept the PSM request and know how long the device is expecting to sleep, thus keeping it's details on the network whilst it is effectivily unreachable (as it won't be expected to send TAUs during the sleep window).

Hi!

I'm just curious. Where does it say that NB-IoT is required for PSM to function? We're only using LTE-M and from what I can observe PSM is working just fine(as long as we're not using the iBasis SIM).
