I get this with gatttool as well after 902 records... I use the raw motion handle to test

gatttool -b FD:19:AF:BA:73:C0 -t random --char-write-req --handle 0x40 --value 0100 --listen > out

I repeated and obtain the same record count; connect to USB or not, resting or moving, and values of 0100, 0200 and 0300 (just in case)

Firmware version 2.1.0

Hello I have been finally able to fix the issue. It is a kernel side restriction regarding Connection Interval for BLE Connection:

Solution:

echo  6 > /sys/kernel/debug/bluetooth/hci0/conn_min_interval
echo 20 > /sys/kernel/debug/bluetooth/hci0/conn_max_interval

Note: As per the references, the OS might reset the values to default on reboot. So you to include it in script.

Not sure if directly related, I was looking through Wireshark log and I found that there are requests made which get rejected:

Command: Connection Parameter Update Response [Rejected]

I found a similar thread with same issues and he also lost connection around same 95sec mark:

Hi,

From the wireshark scan, can you share the pcapng file as well?

Regarding the nRF Sniffer, you do need an nRF Dongle or DK for that one.

Do I need additional dedicated hardware for Sniffer Tool?

I was able to log a HCI-dump from RPi, though it does not log anything specific on failure.

Edit: I was able to use Wireshark to sniff the connection on Rpi and read the packets.

Can you get a disconnection reason?

eg, did the Thingy request to disconnect? Did it just time out? Was there a protocol error?

tesc's suggestion of a sniffer trace would help.

Does the RPi provide any diagnostic logs?

Hi,

Have you measured the time accurately (e.g. with stop watch)? What is the exact timing, and is it the same every time?

Can you provide a sniffer log?

Previously we have seen similar issues when the application running on the nRF does not handle a request, e.g. data update request in IoT examples. This could be something similar. A sniffer log will reveal what happens before disconnection.

Just noting the fact that it is a battery-operated device - therefore conserving battery power is key consideration.

Like it doesn't continue advertising indefinitely.

It does not seem to disconnect when connect to android App. Though battery is around 13%.

Do you see the same connecting from other things - eg, mobile phone or nRF Connect Desktop?

It might be deliberate - so save battery ... ?
