Ah, very good. Just not to scare anyone, My hack of the MKIT does not actually do any cuts. Strictly soldering on a couple wires at the right location on the bottom of the board after scraping away a little silk screen. And also glue gunning or 5 minute epoxy the connector to the board.

I actually did similar on the nRF51822-EK as I didn't want to chance damaging my mkit. To use EK as a JLINK I:

turn off SW4 (isolates JLINK signals)
Soldered on wires to R15 and R16 (side away from MCU) and Gnd (any header)
Signals: GND, SWDIO=T_TMS=R15, SWCLK=T_TCK=R16
Connected signals to a header and glue gunned header to EK

This works. EK's BLE stays active it doesn't cause me trouble, and unplugging any connection to header and turning on SW4 re-enables normal EK functionality.

I have an atomwear on order, also a kickstarter.

Timing is such that I'm going to try the mkit mod, or order the DK if no other option (bonus as new DK supports mbed which I'm also using, I can develop on mbed. I just need the JLink to get the initial mbed FOTA load onto the PCB, then wireless firmware loading thereafter, it works!).

Well, if you like you fund it. That's the whole point of kickstarter. If you don't like it, no one force you. If you know a better one then why don't you tell OP. Beside, prototype has been made. SWD fully functional with Keil, CrossWorks & Eclipse. It'll be avail in 2 months not in 10 years. This not even for funding a project. R&D has funded been done. The kickstart is just a pre-sale marketing tool.

That's unfortunate. You could try asking Nordic to sell you a replacement, they might be allowed to do that if it's broken, I don't think Segger will sell you one.

The new nRF51-DK also has an onboard JLink which you can also use to program an external board, if you'd prefer to buy another board rather than use your mkit. I'd probably start by trying to use the mkit myself.

Since that kickstarter project isn't even yet funded, let alone in production, that doesn't really help the original poster much at this point.

Here is the cut and jumps to the nRF51822-mkit to use it to program other nRF51822 projects using the SWDIO/SWCLK signals.

How about this kickstarter project, a ~$40 jtag. www.kickstarter.com/.../description

You can even put on your board with a $25 jtag module and make your board a mBed board.
