Are you seeing the devices advertising now? What software are you running on the thingys?

pretty frustrating stuff... tried the Android app on Pixel 3a - failed; scan does not see anything.

Just tried on iOS where scan sees a thingy but FW update fails with "Could not obtain peripheral instance"

EDIT: I receive help from support and on Android, there is a workaround. After installing the app and granting the Location service access while app is in use, return to the app permissions. Remove the permission to access location. The re-grant the permission. Voila.

I will still get myself a DFU cable but in the meanwhile, FW is updated.

It should be noted that the project your looking at (Nordic Thingy:52 for Web Bluetooth) is a summer student project on our NordicPlayground repo, which is the repo where we don't have official releases, only projects, tests, and stuff done by students and so on. So projects here are provided as it is.

OK will try that Andreas; you keep referring to the app - I attached a capture of what I see when I use the app (see my previous posts) - devices are breathing blue (so: charged?)

EDIT I also noticed the JS library mentioned in my very first post has a FirmwareService with which I could check the version; will look at that

Can you make sure to flash both Thingy:52's with the standard firmware found here.

Turn them on:

And scan with the app and see if you find them:

Please make sure that they are charged.

The app does not work on my Pixel (1) with Android 10 - it scans... and returns nothing despite the devices being active

If you look at this page on infocenter you can see how you can connect and configure the Thingy:52 with that application.

Andreas, which application are you referring to? Is there a link? I assume you are not referring to the mobile app (see my previous remark) - I can download www.nordicsemi.com/.../Download and try with that?

I have a Pixel with Android 10; the app does not recognize any of the devices. I am not planning on using IFTTT or the app really. I am looking to send data to a nearby gateway.

If there's no other way to determine if a Thingy52 is defect, I will simply exchange one of the devices.

Can you check with the nRF Connect mobile application that both devices advertises?

I followed the same procedure with both: unpack, remove rubber case, turn on; observe blue pulsing light, press connect button on web page with Chrome; pair, observe console log.

Works with one, not the other.
