Is this answer still valid or are there any other solutions for this by now?

After some digging, I found the answer. You can't have both running on the same device. You can't even have both BLE and ESB support built into the same image as they will fight over the interrupt from the radio.

To use Zephyr samples on nRF52 series, please follow this guide. More information can be in this link, and as stated in the bottom of the page: "Also if you want to get involved with Zephyr, or simply need help as a user, you can join the Zephyr mailing list or join the #zephyrproject IRC channel."

Nordic Semiconductor is part of the Zephyr Project and contributes with misc. components/software, but we do not give support for Zephyr running on nRF52840.
