The long range is only an extension, which is optional to use.
However with your phone you cannot use this.
All of the standard BLE examples in our SDK will work with your phone.

I'll close this case now.
Glad to help.

I did what you told me and everything works. One other question.

I am ordering a Nordic nRF52840 development kit, but found out that Pixel 3a android 10 does't support Bluetooth LTE long range. Will that be a problem? kees

RE: thingy 52

Hi,

I was told be our developers that the issue you are facing with Android 10 is already reported.
There will be an update to the Thingy52 app today.
The fix needed with the current app in Android 10 is to enter settings->app settings->permissions and disable, then re-enable location permissions.

I tested this now with an Android 10 device, and can verify that this worked for me.

BLE was introduced in Android 4.3. Are you sure your phone has Android 4.2.2, not e.g. 4.4.2?

RE: thingy 52

Hello , I have a old rugged Kyocera and a brand new Pixel 3a with android 10.Both phones can find the Thingy .if you look in bluetooth settings, but if I open the Thingy app and push on scan, the message is ,I don;t see anything.

I opened nRF connect and there I can find the Thingy on both phones. On the I Phone everything works perfect

So what to do? kees bugel

RE: thingy 52

Hi,

Can you elaborate on which phones you are testing with, and how you do it?
Have you tried the phones with the nRF Thingy app?
