 By default, link time optimization (LTO) is not enabled. 
 If I enable LTO, then the linking does not work. I get following error message:

&lt;p&gt;As both versions of the SDK has used the same GCC version for testing and verification, I assume that the issue is valid for the both versions of the SDK. &lt;br /&gt;I will forward this internally.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I checked the note that you mentioned and it&amp;nbsp;is&amp;nbsp;found only when you scroll down&amp;nbsp;a few pages to the previous release (nRF5 SDK v15.3.0). &lt;p&gt;As stated in the nRF5 SDK release notes:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;The selected GCC version has shown instabilities when using the Link Time Optimization feature, and using the feature is not recommended.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
