Is it possible to configure the nRF52840 for Standard Serial over Bluetooth? The application I am developing for needs a long range Bluetooth connection, where I would like to use Serial Communications (Similar to HC05/HC06).

We did have something for windows 8 for phone some (5) years ago: https://github.com/NordicPlayground/Windows-nRF-Toolbox. But when windows phone was obsoleted, so was out efforts to have example applications for windows as well.

However it might not be that different from what is needed to support windows 10, but I'm not sure. Probably best to start on MSDN:

Thanks for the response to my question. If I may, I have an additional question;

These examples seemed to be geared for IOS and Android devices. While I intend on using IOS, I would also like to use a PC with Windows 10 installed to receive the data from the nRF52840. I think to do this a Virtual Com Port (VCP) must be created to bridge the incoming Bluetooth data to the application on my PC which will utilize this data.

When reviewing the links you have provided, how to go about making a VCP is not clear to me. Is there another step I must undergo?

The serial port profile is not defined for Bluetooth low energy. However we do have BLE uart examples that does something similar. see: UART/Serial Port Emulation over BLE and the corresponding: Nordic UART Service Client
