In one of my board CEAAXX is written.. is that means WLCSP package which is having pin 31..right?

The eval and development kit are all using QFN packages. If you have a look at the chip on the chip it's written on the second line on the black plastic around the die that it's a QFXXXX. QF means it's a QFN package.

thanks for the replay.... so i think in evaluation board we are using QFN version right?...where this package is mentioned?

As @RK points out here, for the QFN version of nRF51822 there are only 31 GPIOs available and hence PIN31 is not existing. PIN31 is only available on the WLCSP version of the nRF51.

The chips in the nordic evaluation kits are QFN48 pacakges which don't have a pin 31, they stop at pin 30 because there's no more pins on the package. See the product guide for the NRF51822.

So you can't get an interrupt because there's no pin to connect to to generate it. What were you trying to connect to on the board in order to trigger it, there isn't anything.

I have no idea what happens to the GPIO internally in the chip in this case, the documentation doesn't say, I assume it just acts as if it came out onto a pin but wasn't connected.
