&lt;p&gt;I would try with a USB phone charger, yes, if you have one available.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The iMac might not power up the port if it doesn&amp;#39;t enumerate as a USB device.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Could you try to measure the VDD voltage on the Thingy with a multimeter?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you remove the rubber cover you can access GND and VDD on the P4, P6 or P8 headers.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The light should start pulsing yellow when in DFU (bootloader) mode.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The key is to keep the button down at the moment you turn it on.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Have you ever changed the firmware in the Thingy, either by using the DFU mechanism or by connecting a programmer to the 10-pin J-Link port?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Will it work if you turn it on while it&amp;#39;s charging over USB, or does it behave the same in this case?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Could you try to turn it on while keeping the button pressed to see if the bootloader is still available?&lt;/p&gt;
