I am new to nordic development tools. I wanted to develop a ble application on the nRF51822 development kit. I am struggling to figure out how to set up the nordic SDK and gcc tool chain on a linux machine. I would appreciate if someone

RE: nRF51822 development setup on a linux machine

Try this this blog site for Eclipse GCC based embedded. Although it is more inclined OS X, the setup is generic should work well with Linux. There are many pages on the blog. Eclipse page is for configuring generic Eclipse on any OS platform for embedded development of any MCU with supported debugger JLink & OpeneOCD based. The nRF51 is more specific to nRF51 series. Other specific pages are for NXP & TI MCU. There is also a page for CMSIS-DAP jtag.

There is no problem to do the development with linux or on Mac OS X. I am using this toolchain. As an IDE I use QT-Creator using qbs projects. See ST-LINK nrf51822 and QT Creator. Debugging and programming of flash is done using the Segger JLink tools.

I am lacking time to elaborate on this now, but I am planning to make a blog about this in the near future.
