We have a question.
Did any body tried to make so that Bluetooth Mesh 4.2 works in PARALLEL with Bluetooth 5.
Some schedule reserved for BLE MESH 4.2 and some schedule reserved for BLE 5.X
I would be happy to hear about this use case

RE: Bluetooth Mesh 4.2 and Bluetooth Long Range

Sure. I'm sorry that I couldn't give you a more definite answer.

But like I said, we do have the co-exist examples which shows how you can do BLE and Mesh in the same application.

If you have any further questions, be sure to let us know.

No problem. With such questions, answers may require some time to think about.

I do understand what you say and definetly agree. We need to implement something to try and evaluate the best timings.

The time it takes to switch and do some BLE activity should use very little of the total radio time. So the radio would be available for the Mesh most of the time, and there would be a relatively low chance of missing packets.
There will be an interval where the device can miss the messages from the Mesh. Exactly when to switch and do some BLE activity in order to have the least chance of missing packets from the Mesh would depend largely on your application. If you have any control and idea of when you will not receive any packets from the Mesh, I would say that would be the best time.

Br,
Joakim

RE: Bluetooth Mesh 4.2 and Bluetooth Long Range

Sure.

As far as I understand, BLE 5 uses a different modulation to establish long distance communication. While the messages are sent and received on that modulation, no message on BLE 4.2 can be heard. Hence, while in BLE 5, mesh messages cannot be catched by the module.

Would there be some recommandations to activate BLE 5 on time constraints that are minimizing the mesh message reception ?

Hope it helps.

Could you elaborate what you mean by this?

We have digged already into these examples.

My main concern is about the timings and mesh constraint. The objective is to loose the minimal packet number on the mesh while "talking in Bluetooth 5".

If you have any idea, I would be happy to hear about.

Cheers,

We don't have any examples that does this explicitly, but I don't see any reason to why this shouldn't be possible to achieve.

You would have to do this implementation yourself, unless other members of the community have something to share.
The Coexistence examples might be a good place to start.
