You are free to connect the pins as you see fit. The internal TWI (I2C) peripheral have pin select registers where you can control which pin to use.

Thanks Kenneth but where do I connect the pins to on the nrf52?

For instance... INT to GPIO 1, SCL to GPIO 2 and SDA to GPIO 3?

I'm not sure where the pins connect to on the nrf52.

From the screenshot it looks like you need to connect VDD, GND, SCL, SDA, and INT pins to the nRF52. A good starting project is for instance the \twi_scanner and \twi_sensor in the nRF5 SDK.
