 1) I have loaded the modem firmware with mfw_nrf9160_1.1.1.zip. (I also tried version 1.1.0, same problem)

&lt;p&gt;I already had tried all of the steps and ideas in the POLLHUP post you have just pointed me at. This is why I explicitly listed all of the steps I had taken and exactly which versions of software I was using in my post. The article you have mentioned tells me to use the latest software, which I have done.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Any other ideas why I am seeing repeated POLLHUPs?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;the POLLHUP error is mentioned &lt;a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/nordic/nordic-blog/b/blog/posts/thingy-91-faq"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. The fix should also be relevant for the nrf9160 dk I believe. You can try that and see if it solves the problem.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
