Note that the reset button is the sideways button right next to the more obvious SW1 button on the Dongle:

After press the RESET button, did you see LED 2 with the red light?

How did you program with the nRF Connect tool?

Did you delete the bootloader with a J-link SWD programmer?

it doesn't work, I press the button and connect but nothing.
I had compiled the project from this directory :
nRF5SDK160098a08e2/examples/peripheral/blinky/pca10056/mbr/armgcc

may have damaged the device?

Please see the Program application using nRF Connect Programmer section of the tutorial. You have to Press the reset button to put the Dongle in DFU mode.

but now I don't detect the device from nRF Connect Programmer when I connect the Dongle.

All the LEDs are off, and it is not present in the list of PC devices.

how can I restore it

Hi,

Please see the Adapt a BLE example (with SoftDevice) and program it using nRF Connect Programmer section of this tutorial.

If you want to test BLE Blinky Application on the nRF52840 Dongle, you have to use nRF Connect Programmer to flash:
s140_nrf52_softdevice.hex (under nRF5_SDK\components\softdevice\s140\hex) and ble_app_blinky_pca10059_s140.hex under (nRF5_SDK\examples\ble_peripheral\ble_app_blinky\hex).
