You can use nRFgo Studio without a problem (https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Development-Tools/nRFgo-Studio). We successfully got our device through FCC Part 15 testing with it. No changes needed on the firmware side.

Since I currently (and urgently) also need this continuous wave mode, I updated the nRF Connect DTM App. Still it seems that CW is not selectable as a packet type?

Yes, no problem. Constant carrier is always implemented into DTM as a vendor specific command. It's just that the nRFConnect DTM plugin doesn't send the correct command, while nRFgo Studio does.

Ok, so I can still have the test lab use nRFgo Studio if they need constant carrier? I tested and it should still work with the dtm example code.

Constant carrier is not correctly implemented in the current version of the nRFConnect DTM plugin. This should be fixed shortly after the Easter.
