Hi, just to be more specific for other viewers:

The modem has four re-transmissions for the DNS query. The timeout for the first DNS request is 1 second and the timeout for the second, third and fourth DNS request is 3 seconds.

All together this means a 10 second timeout in the RPC interface.

Hi again!

getaddrinfo() in BSDLib returns ETIMEDOUT, if the DNS server can't be reached or isn't answering. I'm still waiting on information regarding the specific time it waits before returning the error so I will get back to you on that.

A workaround could be to not look up the address but have ut saved statically in the application.

Hi, you are correct. There's no way to pass a timeout to getaddrinfo().

I can't find any information about the timeout however, so I've forwarded your inquiry and will get back to you when I have an answer.
