In reading this white paper,Section 3.5 Testing RF performance,
a colleague informed me that a test UICC which is provided by the LTE tester vendor say R&S is needed when testing RF with CMW500. Is this test UICC mandatory for signaling

RE: nWP-034 nRF9160 Hardware Verification Guidelines - RF testing

Copy with thx. Case closed.

RE: nWP-034 nRF9160 Hardware Verification Guidelines - RF testing

Hi Salas,

here is the answer:

For CMW500 callbox signalling testing, R&S SIM card (Z06 or similar) can be used without changes to default security keys in CMW500 GUI.

Same applicable SIM cards can also be bought from Comprion.

In some cases other SIM cards can also be used (but you have to know security/authentication keys and put those in line in CMW500 as well) so easiest is to use above SIM cards.

For non-signalling, SIM card is not usually required.

But if product has already other profile in soldered UICC (like operator profile), then security keys need to absolutely match to get UE attached in signalling mode and can those be received from operator?

It could be possible to flash profile from R&S/Comprion directly but this would need to be requested from R&S/Comprion and could be in different format (and not sure it is available).

Best regards,
Kaja

RE: nWP-034 nRF9160 Hardware Verification Guidelines - RF testing

Hi Salas,

I have sent the question to the people in Finland, I will let you know when they get back to me.

Best regards,
Kaja
