Not just a compiler; it is a complete IDE - including toolchain and debugger.

Hi,

Yes, Segger Embedded Studio is free for all development when the target chip is a Nordic Semiconductor product. Segger Embedded Studio is also the preferred IDE for the nRF5 SDK, although many IDE's and toolchains are supported.

Ok. So Is it free If one uses it for Nordic chip with commercial use ?

Technically, Segger Embedded Studio is not free. Their pricing web page is shown at:

www.segger.com/.../

However, they do make it free for development on Nordic products.
