&lt;p&gt;If you want a non-zephyr version, I would suggest downloading the nRF5 SDK v.16., which you can download &lt;a href="https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/support-private/support/248272/nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Software/nRF5-SDK/Download#infotabs"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. Then you will find the simple blinky example as a SES project for your board (nRF52832 DK PCA10040) in /examples/peripheral/blinky/pca10040/blank/ses/blinky_pca10040.emProject.&lt;/p&gt;
