If you look at the Call Stack + Locals window you can see that NVIC_SystemReset is called from app_error_handler_bare.

Enable logging (NRF_LOG_ENABLED 1) and check logs before the reset. Use DEBUG mode and HardFault_Handler to check for faults.

I am always getting NRF_POWER_RESETREAS_RESETPIN (Pin reset) as the reset reason. I have checked the connections and they seem fine. Any suggestions on how to debug or fix this issue?

Hi Kenneth,

Sorry for this again but my device is not receiving data from nrf52 sometime. maybe UART is getting hanged.

As I removed APP_ERROR_HANDLER(p_event->data.error_communication) from uart handler, there no soft reset now but causing other issues in uart communication.

when device is kept live for long time with continuous UART communication, at some time(Its Random, it varies from 2-10 days) nrf52 stops sending data to other MCU. When I given power cycle to the device then starts sending data and works normal.

I am not getting what is the issue. is UART getting stucked somewhere? or softdevice ?

Please help me to resolve the same.

Hi Kenneth,

Problem is resolved. there was issue in hardware. Vcc and Rx line of nordic was parallel that may creating noise and causes communication error.

I have checked with other hardware which is error free.

Since you can't change the delay, and you can't use flow control, then I suggest to use libuarte:

No, we can add in millisecond. but it will be quite complex right to send each byte and adding delay.

I have added wait 50 ms till tx done.

I have added NRF_P0->PIN_CNF[RX_PIN_NUM] |= GPIO_PIN_CNF_PULL_Msk; after UART initialization. does this affects?

is GPIO_PIN_CNF_PULL_Msk correct? or 3<<2?

my hardware is custom, does not have RTS CTS lines. I am using only Rx and Tx lines.

Any other solution?

It may due to hardware faults?

I tried removing APP_ERROR_HANDLER(p_event->data.error_communication), there is no softreset now. but occurrence of APP_UART_COMMUNICATION_ERROR affects loss of data. I tried using delay while sending command from other MCU to nrf but still this error occurs.

How to remove this error? any solution?

Can we ignore this. Can I delete APP_ERROR_HANDLER(p_event->data.error_communication) from APP_UART_COMMUNICATION_ERROR event. It directly resets nordic.

Is it related to hardware issue?

I suspect this is FRAMING error:

This is not a critical error, you can ignore it. The error could be caused due to noise on the line or baud rate that is not accurate. Framing error can also occur if you are turning on and off UART RX frequently, then you can for instance start UART rx in the middle of a byte.

Potentially you may have lost a byte, but I guess you have mechanism in handshaking on the serial interface that can handle re-transmissions or similar on the UART if that is the case.

If you expand your Call Stack + Locals window you can also see where app_error_handler_bare was called.

Hi,

The softdevice will not execute any soft reset or other reset. So it must be the application (or bootloader if you have that) that somewhere is calling NVIC_SystemReset().

I expect you have an assert, which by default will execute an NVIC_SystemReset() to recover. This is a good idea for a final product, however during prototype development you may want to add DEBUG to the preprocessor symbol such that you in can set a breakpoint to identify file name, line number and error code causing the assert, this is done in app_error_fault_handler().
