I would like to power the DK through a external power bank. This leads to led5 blinking rapidly for a while and then turning off. I assume this is because of the debugger IC, so i was wondering if there is a way to bypass/disable this?

This is a common problem that power banks shuts off when the the current draw is low.

RE: Powering nrf9160DK through powerbank

I have now tried with two different power banks (only available), and both give the rapid blinking response. I connected the power banks to the micro-usb socket, and used a multi-meter to measure the socket pins for given voltage supply. While LED5 is blinking, it show 5V, and then drops to 1.8 (power bank shuts off).

RE: Powering nrf9160DK through powerbank

I might be the power bank that's the problem. Some of them will turn off the output when the current draw is below a certain limit. Check the supply voltage if this is the case or not. If so, see if you can find a different power bank that doesn't do this.
