I can compile the zepher projects, but I am not interested in using zepher. I want to use SES as that is what we have grown accustomed to. Is there a way to port over some sample code to SES?
We recommend using the Zephyr host 😉

But, there are probably several open-source BLE hosts you can use.

But I don't have any knowledge about any particular ones.

Best regards,

Useful info here. Quick question regarding one of your comments

[quote userid="81181" url="~/f/nordic-q-a/60766/freertos-on-nrf53/247063#247063"]The nRF Bluetooth LE Controller is RTOS-agnostic, so you should be able to integrate it with your RTOS of choice.
For this scenario, are there options that Nordic recommend for this BLE host, or we have to build this from scratch?

RE: FreeRtos on NRF53

Hi Lazar,

The link points to the master branch, where the nRF BLE Controller has changed name to 'SoftDevice Controller'.

Here is a new link to the master branch (i.e. it will always be up-to-date, but might break in the future): https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrfxlib/softdevice_controller/doc/softdevice_controller.html

Here is a link to the latest release (v1.3.1, should not break in the future): https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/1.3.1/nrfxlib/ble_controller/doc/ble_controller.html

You can use SES to build nRF Connect SDK (NCS) projects, so you don't have to give up SES to use NCS.

Here is some documentation on how to build an NCS application with SES: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/gs_programming.html#building-with-ses

While we only support NCS on the nRF53, you don't have to use NCS.

The nRF Bluetooth LE Controller is RTOS-agnostic, so you should be able to integrate it with your RTOS of choice. However, as the name implies, it is only a BLE controller, which means that you will have to use a separate BLE host.

In NCS we are using Zephyr's BLE host, which you obviously won't be able to if you are using FreeRTOS instead.

Here is some documentation on how to integrate the nRF BLE controller into an application: https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrfxlib/ble_controller/doc/ble_controller.html

Best regards,
