I need to add custom information into modem and have found that in v1.2 new ODIS fields were introduced.
As I see I can provide any text for device ID, manufacturer, model and version using AT+ODIS command.
1. As per manual they should be written

RE: ODIS fields

Glad to hear!

PS: there's a specification that states that the host device id shouldn't be read back, so the implementation is intentional.

Cheers,

ODIS is short for OMA DM IMEI Synchronization, which is used to uniquely ID a device on a network, by network providers.
1. As per manual they should be written into flash but that is not happening as data gets reset after power cycle. Is that intentional?
AT+CFUN=0 will store generic settings to flash, as per the note here:

https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ref_at_commands/REF/at_commands/general/odis_set.html?cp=2_1_2_9_0
2. Also I see no way to retrieve device id, is that intentional as well?
By subscribing, using this AT command: https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ref_at_commands/REF/at_commands/general/odisntf.html?cp=2_1_2_10

You can get the full +ODIS input as a notification, but you will not get the device id when querying the AT command using AT+ODIS?. I'll ask internally and get back to you.
All I need is to save some text (5 bytes length) into permanent memory using AT command when modem is off and retrieve it later using UART when it's on.
You can store things to flash directly in firmware as well. If your network provider requires some sort of management platform, you might not be able to use this field.

Kind regards,

Håkon
