I want to build expertise in BLE and want to use the Nordic nRF51x22 to build a hardware and write the firmware for the same.
I am planning to use the nRF51 DK. I prefer either GCC(due to cost) or IAR. However I could not find any document here

RE: nRD51x22 development environment with IAR and GCC

Is it still true, that Nordic has no complete support for a GCC based environment setup four your SDK?

RE: nRD51x22 development environment with IAR and GCC

Each of the examples in the SDK comes with makefiles for GCC, and they should compile out of the box using the ARM GCC toolchain. You can find the toolchain here: launchpad.net/gcc-arm-embedded

If you want to set up an IDE (like Eclipse) to use the toolchain and a debuger, we have a guide here: devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../. However, this guide is outdated, and it requires some work to get everything up and running. We do not currently support a complete GCC environment setup for our SDK, and this is what we have at the moment. You are of course welcome to ask questions about this here in this forum.

IAR project files are included in all the SDK examples.
