&lt;p&gt;Could you add information on what OS and which version of nRF Connect that you are using?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you don&amp;#39;t disconnect from the device you won&amp;#39;t be able to scan for it, unless you have modified the example to start advertising after connecting to a device. The ble_app_uart example will stop advertising when in a connection.&lt;/p&gt;
