I've been following the guide https://developer.nordicsemi.com/nRF_Connect_SDK/doc/latest/nrf/ug_thread.html#mandatory-configuration to get started with OpenThread development. However, once I try to build it I get the following errors:

It is not possible to build the OpenThread examples in NCS with SES, this is mentioned under known issues in the release notes.

How did you try to build the examples with the command line? I tested this yesterday with west, and it worked as expected. If you tried building with SES first, please make sure you delete any build folders first.
Is the openthread support still shaky or have I missed something?
Yes, as mentioned in the index page of NCS v1.3.0 documentation:

Note:

nRF53 Series devices (which are pre-production) and Thread, Zigbee, and Bluetooth Mesh protocols are supported for development in v1.3.0 for prototyping and evaluation. Support for production and deployment in end products is coming soon.

Best regards,
Jørgen
