I really don't get how what's written in the Product Specification actually describes that?

To me, the description is totally opaque - even though I know what it's trying to say!

It seriously needs a re-write!

Hi,

Yeah, the general naming rule is as Andrew's mention.

When writing to POWERSET, you set the specific bits. When writing '1' to a field in POWERCLR, you clear the specific bit in POWER.

If you read the POWERSET or POWERCLR, it will return the content of the POWER register, but that might not necessarily match what you just wrote into POWERCLR for instance.

I agree that the description there is poor.

Usually, with sets of registers like this.

<register-name> is the actual register;
<register-name>+SET allows you to set specific bits in the <register-name> without having to do a RMW
<register-name>+CLR allows you to clear specific bits in the <register-name> without having to do a RMW
Often, there is also a <register-name>+TGL which allows you to toggle specific bits in the <register-name> without having to do a RMW
