When updating your modem FW please use the .zip file itself. The file shown in your first screenshot is the modem FW zip file, and should only be used with the "Cellular Modem - Update modem" function in the programmer app.

For the latest application FW please download the "nRF9160-DK application and modem firmware" package from the nRF9160 DK landing page.

In this .zip file, you will find the following:

devzone.nordicsemi.com/.../CONTENTS.txt

Please choose an image (*.hex) based on available technology (LTE-M or NB-IoT) in your area, from the folder "images_full". Then use the programmer app to program this image. Once this is done, please retry your connection with nRF Cloud.
