Using JLink is not with OpenOCD but with JLink debug configuration. When you are in the debug configuration popup, choose jlink instead of openocd (from the list on the left side).

This is why it puzzles me, that the debugging session setup for nrf51 runs on the nrf52...

Will openocd work for me though, if i am flashing the device and debugging through the Jlink controller on the DK over USB ?

Also, i'm using SDK11 and when i search through it, i don't see any .cfg files at all..

may be the openocd .cfg file is wrong or bad version of openocd or eclipse setup is bad. not sure but you seem to mismatch things. nRF51 & nRF52 or 2 completely different processor.
