&lt;p&gt;Please find below comment per each questions.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-. Assisted GPS would be a good option. I recommend you to test it under NCS v1.3.0 or master branch which has cloud assisted GPS for asset tracker application.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;-. The switching time depends on allowed PSM and eDRX interval. if 5 second is preferred, you can set it eDRX internal properly.&lt;/p&gt;
