The ERRATA 0.7 document says that for this version the GPS antenna does not work well. I need to use GPS for extracting PPS signal from COEX1 pin, in order to synchronize more devices. I read on DK User Guide that

RE: LTE and GPS external antenna nRF9160 DK

As stated in the AT+CCLK? documentation:

"The device clock updates are based on network time when available. The time can be requested using the read command, but not all networks provide the information, nor can the highest accuracy requirements be guaranteed, either." So no, this is not guaranteed to be a very accurate representation on time. This, of course, depends on your definition of accurate though.

About time synchronization, if I use the command AT+CCLK i get time from LTE network. Is it a very precise time ?

RE: LTE and GPS external antenna nRF9160 DK

Hi

The Murata MXHS83QE3000 adapter is the only option to connect external SMA antennas as far as I know, so I strongly suggest looking into whether you'll be able to get this or not.

Other options for as precise time synchronization are rather limited I believe, and you would have to get other external components to keep track of the time either way. An option that would be less accurate, but not include any further components, would be to create a similar application as the BLE timesync demo for the onboard nRF52840 in NCS, but you'd be on your own in the development process here, as our recommendation is to get your hands on the Murata adapter for the most precise solution.

Best regards,
