With the help of Pratyush, Nordic Semiconductor, we have resolved the issue. nrfgostudio requests internet access on start-up. Our firewall prevented it. The software stops execution.

The fix (until firewall setting can be changed) is: nRFgoStudio.exe --nodefinitionupdate

This is the 64bit version installed as a 'regular' user.

I am not sure what the failure is. My first suggestion would be to double check if you indeed have 64 bit win 7 machine which should match the nrfgostudio 64 bit installer file.

It's Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Service pack P1, 64-bit OS.
