Hi,

Another observation: The officially supported GNU/Linux distribution for nRF Connect for Desktop is Ubuntu 18.04. This Ubuntu release is also a long term support release (LTS).

I suspect that the "export SVGA_VGPU10=0" or disabling 3D display acceleration solution fixes one issue when running in a VM, but that other issues may be related to packet/driver versions that differ between 16.04 and 18.04.

Hi,

Do you see similar issues where Ubuntu is run natively as well? (Not in VM.)

nRF Connect for Desktop and its apps are the same for all target OS-es. I suggest as a workaround for now to use nRF Connect from the host OS if it does not work inside the VM.

Hello,

I turned off 3D display acceleration, unfortunately not working.

Temporary I run nRF Connect in window and it is fine.

But since my team is using Linux, I want unify OS.

Please let me know if there is solution.

Hi,

According to this thread on stack overflow the first error message could be an incompatibility between one or more of Ubuntu 16.04 / VMware / Windows 10. Maybe that is where you found the "export SVGA_VGPU10=0" suggestion?

According to the same thread, there seems to be a different option to turn off 3D display acceleration. Do you get the same behavior if doing that instead?

One thing you could try when the app hangs like that, is to try the keyboard shortcut ctrl+r for reloading the app.

I will hear with the nRF Connect developers if they have any ideas, or how we can get more logging or otherwise figure out why it hangs.
