I am using a (PPK + nrf52840 DK) to measure current on an external device.
Is it necessary to cut the SB40/41 jumpers in this case?
Thanks for you help.

Cutting SB40/41 is only necessary if you want to measure current consumed by the nRF52840 chip on the DK. Cutting the bridge allows you to let the current through a component or device (resistor or amperemeter, etc) where you can measure the current flowing. If you only use the DK for communication and powering the PPK when measuring external DUT, there should be no need to cut the solder-bridges.
