I am trying to set the section placement macros on the segger embedded studio. Follow some instruction, find "project -> Option -> Linker" I cannot find the set about "section placement macros". The only thing looks similar is "Memory map macros

RE: Question about set section placement macros on embedded studio

That is great! It's the section placement macros you want to edit if you want to change memory layout of your app. I've highlighted relevant settings in screenshot below. The other *_PH_* macros are to specify the total memory size on the chip and are usually kept as is.

But remember that the app must always start at 0x1000 if you are programming the dongle through the USB bootloader and not with an external debugger. Please take a look at the nRF52840 Dongle Programming Tutorial if you haven't already.

RE: Question about set section placement macros on embedded studio

Thanks so much for your response. Yes, you are right. The project you've mentioned is able to map to the dongle directly. I was originally trying to modify a Keil project to apply for the dongle, a silly thought......

I still have a question for the memory location. Am I able to modify the section placement for the dongle? For example, set the start address and the size of the flash memory? Or is "project -> options -> linker -> memory map macros" the right place to do that?

Thanks again for your help and patience

RE: Question about set section placement macros on embedded studio

Hello,

It shouldn't be neccessary to import MDK projects as all SDK examples alreay include project files for Segger embededded studio. The SES blinky project is located in the following directory: \examples\peripheral\blinky\pca10059\mbr\ses. Or do you have another Keil project you need to convert to SES?

RE: Question about set section placement macros on embedded studio

Might because I haven't uploaded a memory map file? But when I choose "flash_placment.xlm" and build. It gets error FLASH1 is not defined (SEGGER_Flash.icf). How can I fix this error?
