Thank you for the explanation! Hopefully this will help someone who had a similar issue. My solution was simply to build the project from source, which seemed to work fine. The instructions on this page is what I followed.

Hi Kody,

It looks like the latest version for arm processors(RPi 4) is 0.11.4 at the moment. When using pip the files are sourced from this website https://www.piwheels.org/project/pc-ble-driver-py/ and here you can see the latest supported version.

Hi Jonathan,

I have pip version 20.2.3,

Raspbian 10,

and I am using a Raspberry PI 4.

I have been able to build and install the bindings from source, but I am just wondering why pip would only get version 0.11.4. This isn't so much to solve my issue as I have the bindings and they are working fine now but I'd like to understand the problem and help others understand if they are trying the same thing as me.

What pip version do you have?
What Distro do you have?
What RPi do you have?

Maybe you can download files directly from PyPi, https://pypi.org/project/pc-ble-driver-py/#files

I did the other day but got a similar result. Couldn't find 0.14.2 or anything after 0.11.4. I did just build the repository from source though and that got me the latest version. I just don't understand why pip3 cannot find anything greater than 0.11.4.

Have you tried "pip install pc-ble-driver-py==0.14.2"?
This way you can force the install of a specific version
I had a similar problem on Ubuntu 18.04 and upgrading python pip to the latest version (the one you have already) fixed the problem

Usually, different Linux distros make python pip point to specific versions of some libs, I don't know how that works exactly
